Along Pennypack Creek

After making progress with my javascript coding for the day, I got out into the sun on my bike and biked to the Delaware River.

Couples walked through Lorimer Park. Cows were out at Fox Chase Farm. The Pennypack Trail was well used but not crowded. The creek smelled like subtle creek smells (if only I could describe this).  Earthy and moist? People were fishing.

Along the Delaware, I saw a fox in the Important Bird Area north of the soccer fields.  A red tug pushed a barge upstream.  It was peaceful here, and several people just sat in their cars with their windows open.

I made this map of my ride from home along the PennyPack and back via Rhawn.  I worked in QGIS, Photoshop and Illustrator.  Last night I made a similar map, but the colors felt morose.  So this morning I selected out individual colors to capture the tree canopy and open spaces before painting in watercolor. There’s a slight relief, and generally I’m happy with the result.
