International summer programs begin at home
If you are a parent of a 10 or 11 year old (or even older) and you’d like your kids to have a culturally rich global experience as part of an international program, check out CISV (Formerly Children’s International Summer Village).
Because Philadelphia has such an active program, and because the youth leaders were totally on top of things at the placement pool, Philadelphia’s chapter got great placements for Village camps. The Village programs we are sending delegations to are in Brussels, Belgium, Modena, Italy, and Tel-Aviv, Israel.
I previously wrote about my experiences as a parent here. And my daughter Kate made a presentation about her village experience. And this morning I made a map of the program locations for fun. It’s the size of an oversized postcard, so I might get some made.
Space is limited – There are only three Village delegations with four kids (ages 10 and 11) and an adult leader. And the application deadline is December 10, 2019. CISV is the kind of organization where your involvement matters. It’s all volunteer, and youth lead local environmental and social activities.
There are programs for other ages too, but Village was great for our kids.
