Bike camping trips from Jenkintown

It was November 2020. The woods were so silent that the sounds of my sleeping bag woke me up as l lay in the sandy soil.

Looking up into the sky from the 20 oz sleeping bag I was testing, this is what I saw at 4:02 am shortly before getting up to bike the 46 miles home.  The moon was so bright I could ride through the woods without lights.

I brought I tent, but I didn’t use it. And the temperature was in the low 40s.  Inside I was warm, but this wasn’t a mummy bag. And I felt cold until I pulled a rain jacket over my head.

Every overnight bike trip is different, but they are always memorable. They are fun to do with people or alone on the spur of the moment. I ended up in this location due to a phone call with a client minutes before I left. She said I’d like this spot.

Here’s a map of some places I can bike from home to camp out overnight. Most require reservations and some are closed due to COVID. The reason I’m sharing this now is because I’m so anxious to go bike camping.
